FSS 10 for Terry

FSS 10 for Terry
FSS Students, Staff, and Community,

FSS has a long standing tradition of participating in the Terry Fox National School Run Day.  Since 1999 FSS has raised over $23,000 to support the Terry Fox Foundation.  It is important to note that all the money raised in Terry’s name goes to fund research to find a cure for cancer.

This year we are facing a new challenge.  Current restrictions mean that we won’t be able to do our usual full school event.  Our new event is titled “Ten for Terry”.  We would like to challenge every class to walk 10km by the end of September.  Ten kilometers is one quarter of the distance Terry ran every day in his Marathon of Hope in 1980.  Ten kilometers is equal to 25 laps around the FSS track.  Your class can complete this challenge in any way they want, one suggestion might be five laps of the track on five different days.  You can break up the distance any way you like.  This will also be a great way to work some exercise and fresh air into your Octomester.

As for donations, we won’t be collecting cash this year.  Students, parents and staff who want to donate can do so electronically. Our school fundraising page can be found at www.terryfox.ca/FrontenacSSKingston.  Donations made on this page will be attributed to our school totals for this year, and our total over the years.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.  Many of us have had to deal with this terrible disease, and its impact on our families and friends.  Please donate and help make cancer history.
